Notification Of Decision Of Withdrawal: Application For The Renewal Of An Existing Atmospheric Emission Licence (Ael)

Having reconsidered the refusal decision dated 15 June 2026 concerning the renewal application for Atmospheric Emission Licence WCWD013, and having regard to the issue concerning the identity of the competent licensing authority under the National Environmental Air Quality Act, 2004 (Act No. 39 of 2004) (NEMAQA), the West Coast District Municipality hereby withdraws the refusal decision in its entirety. The withdrawal does not constitute approval of the renewal application.

The application and associated administrative record will be transferred to the new competent licensing authority (the National Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE)) for further processing and determination for renewal. Please note that there is currently no appeals period.

Please note the current AEL is valid up until 02 September 2026
