NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, IN TERMS OF SECTION 47 READ WITH 38(3)(B) OF THE NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT: AIR QUALITY ACT, 2004 (ACT NO.39 OF 2004), AS AMENDED, OF AN INVITATION TO REGISTER COMMENTS WITH REGARDS TO AN APPLICATION FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE EXISTING ATMOSPHERIC EMISSIONS LICENCE, IN TERMS OF THE AFOREMENTIONED LEGISLATION, FOR TRANSNET PORT TERMINALS – IRON ORE BULK TERMINALS SALDANHA (WCWD013)
APPLICANT: Transnet Port Terminals – Iron Ore Bulk Terminals Saldanha
LOCATION: Port of Saldanha
NATURE OF RENEWAL APPLICATION: Renewal Application for an AEL is being made in respect of the following listed activities:
– Category 5: Mineral Processing, Storage and Handling
– Subcategory 5.1: Storage and Handling of Ore and Coal.
DESCRIPTION: Storage and handling of ore and coal not situated on the premises of a mine or works as defined in the Mines Health and Safety Act 29/1996.
APPLICATION: Locations designed to hold more than 100 000 tons.
OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT: Transnet Port Terminals – Iron Ore Bulk Terminals Saldanha has appointed WSP Group Africa (Pty) Ltd (WSP) to manage the stakeholder engagement process associated with the AEL renewal process. Any person wishing to submit comments with regards to the application may provide them in writing to the contact person below during a 30-calendar day commenting period, from 23 February 2026 until 25 March 2026. A copy of the AEL application will be made available on request from Tumelo Mathulwe at pp@wsp.com.
