We received the following urgent message from the Environmental Committee:-
We have observed that several common Terns (Sterretjies) on the beach appear to be unwell and may be affected by Avian Influenza (Bird Flu).
Members are strongly advised:
• Do not touch, pick up, or handle any sick or dead birds.
• Keep children and pets well away from affected birds
• Avoid direct contact with bird droppings in the area.
• Avian Influenza can spread easily among wild birds, and handling infected birds poses a health risk.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to protect both public health and local wildlife.
WQT.
