The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI), the Department of Forestry and Fisheries (DFFE), the Saldanha Bay Municipality (SBM) and the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) are working together to unlock the economic, social and environmental potential of the Saldanha Small Fishing Harbour (including Pepper Bay).
To guide this work, we are developing a Compact for the Future of the Saldanha Small Fishing Harbour, which will bring stakeholders together to agree on:
- a shared vision for the harbour in 2040,
- principles to guide future planning and development, and
- mechanisms for ongoing engagement with stakeholders.
The Economic Development Partnership (EDP) has been appointed to facilitate this collaborative process. A short letter with further information on the project and scope of work is attached.
As a key stakeholder with an interest in the future of the Saldanha Small Fishing Harbour, we kindly request that you complete this short 5–7 minute survey. Your input will directly shape the Compact and ensure that it reflects the experience and perspectives of those most connected to the harbour. You can answer in English or Afrikaans – it’s up to you.
Please complete the survey by Monday next week, using one of the links below:
- English: A Vision for the Saldanha Small Fishing Harbour 2040 – Fill out form
- Afrikaans: ’n Visie vir die Saldanha Klein Vissershawe 2040 – Fill out form
We may reach out to some stakeholders for follow-up discussions. You are also welcome to contact us if you would like to discuss your inputs in more detail.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
Best wishes,
Anna du Plessis
